About Contemplative Outreach Buffalo
Contemplative Outreach Buffalo is a local chapter of the international organization of Contemplative Outreach. We aim to support people in the practice of Centering Prayer by hosting regular centering prayer groups. We promote contemplative education by facilitating Introductory Programs for people interested in learning the practice, as well as leading retreats for those interested in deepening their practice.

INTRODUCTORY PROGRAMS
Our Chapter is equipped with trained presenters to teach the method of Centering Prayer to a wide range of audiences. The typical workshop runs between 4-6 hours. Centering Prayer is also practiced as the 11th Step of Alcoholics Anonymous. The 11th Step is: "Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, as we understand Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out." Open Mind, Open Heart is Thomas Keatings most well known book. It is an excellent introduction to Centering Prayer, a true companion for the practice. Much of the book is written in a Question/Response format, making it very practical without losing its spiritual depth. |
